Honkly and Tonk. They are best friends and always together. The fact donkeys can die of loneliness makes me worry if something happens to one of them. They are beautiful, intelligent and often misunderstood animals.

Sheep are such an embedded part of farming in Australia, an iconic face of agriculture in our country. When I took this shot down at our shearing shed, I loved it straight away. It shows such emotion on the face of the sheep, an uncertainty of what is about to happen but also a reluctant surrendering into the hands of the shearer.
Tamara Ward - Tincurrin, Western Australia
I took this photo just a couple weeks ago, as we prepared to offload our older ewes to market. This is our Miss E with her favourite sheep, Lilly. I hand reared Lilly as an orphan lamb when Miss E was just 2. You could say that these two have grown up together. Once Lilly was weened and old enough to join back to a mob, we took her out to the paddock. But, every time we would do a sheep check, Miss E would come with us to `check on her Lilly`. Almost every time, we visited the paddock, or as we would muster and bring her mob to the yards, Lilly would seek out Miss E for a sniff and a pat. Whenever Miss E was in the yards with us, Lilly would come and quietly stand by her and guard her. When Miss E was told that Lilly's mob was going to market, she adamantly told her daddy, `Not Lilly dad! You are not selling Lilly, she is coming home to live with me!` Needless to say, the day this photo was taken, Miss E made sure that Lilly was kept aside and we brought her home to live in the little paddock by our house. Every day Miss E goes out to give her Lilly pats and cuddles. The gentle love they share for each other is something really special. I think this photo encapsulates that love and is a picture of how so many farming kids feel about their beloved farm animals. These are true faces of Australian agriculture.
