We'd like to extend our congratulations to Angus Tomlinson for receiving the 2023 Western NSW Region Vocational Student of the Year Award. Angus completed his Diploma of Agriculture with us in October last year and has been kicking goals ever since! Our CEO, Sarah Mosley and our Business Development Manager, Melanie Moeller, had the opportunity to congratulate Angus in person at the 2023 Western NSW Training Awards in Bathurst.
“I like RuralBiz Training as it works very well with agriculture and is very flexible” which is incredibly important to Angus who travels along the east coast of Australia working on crops. Angus being local to Dubbo NSW knew all throughout high school that he wanted to work in Agriculture. After finishing high school, he worked odd jobs to make ends meet but wasn’t sure what kind of Agriculture he wanted to work in. “I started near Dubbo working on sheep farms before getting an itch to travel north to see how agriculture changes.”
After leaving Dubbo, Angus headed to Barcaldine to help with D8 chaining regrowth before following harvest season down the east coast. "I started at Claremont QLD and finished at Tungabah Vic working for a number of contractors and local farmers who needed workers.” Angus is now working at Warren NSW on an irrigation and broad-acre farm. It has shown him how broad agriculture really is.
Angus' encouragement to others interested in studying, "go for it, start something you have an interest in, it's never a negative to have a certificate, it can broaden your horizons."
