Name: Dayna Linton
Age: 20
Location: Home Hill, QLD
Course(s) Studied: Diploma of Agribusiness Management
Dayna and her family have been farming in the Burdekin region in Far North Queensland since 1914, making her and her siblings 5th generation farmers. The Burdekin has been described as the sugarcane capital of Australia and the only region that still burns sugarcane crops before harvesting.
Dayna’s family are involved in multiple farms. They harvest around 14,000 tonnes of sugarcane each year and run 250 head of cattle.
In addition to helping on the farm, Dayna works full-time in an agribusiness role for a financial institution. She spends her days developing relationships with owners and operators of agricultural enterprises and learning about their day-to-day operations.
Dayna completed the online Diploma of Agribusiness Management with RuralBiz Training in 2024. “I highly recommend RuralBiz Training to anyone looking to study an agri-related course. The support provided by the trainers and administration staff was tenfold.”
“I really enjoyed the multitude of resources for each unit, including videos, tutorials, studies and papers. The assessment tasks were all different too, ranging from quizzes, papers and presentations. It was truly a self-paced course with ample timeframes for each unit and extensions are provided where required. I thoroughly enjoyed my time studying with Rural Biz Training.”
Outside of work and farming life, Dayna likes to play and volunteer at the local netball association. She also enjoys playing touch football and spending time with family and friends.
